Shees Park is a scenic family park in the mountains of Sharjah, located in the Shees area near Khorfakkan. It combines modern visitor facilities with the dramatic landscape of the Hajar Mountains, greenery, palm trees, walking paths and a large artificial waterfall.
The park covers more than 11,300 square metres and was designed as a place for outdoor relaxation, walking and family time.
The main attraction is an artificial waterfall more than 25 metres high. It stands among stone pathways and greenery and has become one of the most recognizable features of the park.
Important: this is an artificial waterfall, not a natural mountain cascade, and it is not fed by a mountain spring.
WALKING PATHS AND VIEWPOINT
The park has around 506 metres of walking paths. They run across three mountain terraces connected by stone stairs.
The route leads to the main viewing platform, positioned approximately 30 metres above the main park level. From here, visitors can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and the natural landscape of Shees.
This is not a difficult hiking trail in the traditional sense, but a developed walking area within the park.
WHAT YOU CAN FIND AT SHEES PARK
The park includes: - an artificial waterfall more than 25 metres high; - around 506 metres of walking paths; - three mountain terraces; - a main viewing platform; - a children’s play area; - 32 shaded seating areas; - a BBQ area; - an outdoor theatre; - a Gerard Café branch; - complimentary drinking water.
For families, this makes it easy to combine a short mountain walk with shaded relaxation and time outdoors.
SHEES PARK AND WADI SHEES
Shees Park is a developed recreational park with walking paths, a waterfall, a viewpoint and family facilities. Wadi Shees is a separate natural area with mountain trails and seasonal water features.
Nearby, visitors can also find the official Wadi Shees Nature Trail, an approximately 1.8-kilometre loop through Shees Valley, with palm groves, an old falaj irrigation system and traditional agricultural areas.
WHY VISIT
Shees Park is a good option for a relaxed mountain trip without committing to a difficult hike.
Visitors can walk through the greenery, climb the terraces to the viewpoint, relax in the shade, take photos beside the waterfall or spend a few hours with family.
The park is particularly striking against the surrounding Hajar Mountains: greenery, stone architecture and water create a strong contrast with the desert landscapes more commonly associated with the UAE.
BEFORE YOU GO
Check the latest opening hours and access conditions before visiting. Individual facilities or services may occasionally change.
If you plan to visit both Shees Park and Wadi Shees, check the trail conditions and weather separately.
MOUNTAIN SETTING
Shees Park feels different from a city park because the Hajar Mountains remain present in every direction. Terraces, stonework and planted areas soften the dry mountain setting without hiding it. The waterfall supplies a strong visual centre, while the higher viewpoint opens the scene back towards the valley and surrounding slopes.
The contrast is especially clear after the drive into Shees: palms and shaded planting sit beside rugged rock faces. Come for the landscape as much as the facilities, and allow time to pause at the viewpoint rather than treating the park as a single waterfall photo stop.
VISITOR ETIQUETTE AND SAFETY
Keep to marked paths and stairs, especially around the terraces and waterfall. The water feature is for viewing, not an assumed swimming area. Supervise children near edges and steps, use shade during the hottest part of the day and carry water even when complimentary drinking water is available on site.
Use the BBQ area only under its current rules, keep food and smoke away from planted spaces, and leave picnic areas clean. Wadi Shees is a separate natural environment: do not leave the developed park expecting the same surfaces, services or safety controls. Respect residents, farms, falaj channels and quiet areas on any wider valley walk.
A PARK DAY WITH WADI SHEES
The two stops complement one another rather than duplicate one another. Shees Park offers a predictable, developed break with seating, a café, play space and a viewpoint. Wadi Shees adds a more natural valley experience through palms, agricultural land and the Wadi Shees Nature Trail.
If combining them, start with the activity that needs the most energy and daylight, then use the park for a slower pause. Keep transport, weather and trail conditions in mind; a short loop in the valley is still an outdoor route, not an extension of the park’s paved visitor facilities.
