UAE fuel prices for October 2026: Petrol rises by up to 16.6%

From 1 October 2026, Super 98 costs AED 4.40 per litre, Special 95 AED 4.28, E-Plus 91 AED 4.21 and diesel AED 4.80. Here is what changed since September, why global energy markets matter and how October compares with July 2022.

Petrol and diesel prices in the UAE from 1 October

The UAE Fuel Price Committee has set the October rates. The new prices take effect on 1 October. Every listed grade costs more than in September; the largest percentage rise is 16.6% for E-Plus 91. All prices below are per litre.

  • Super 98 — AED 4.40 instead of AED 3.80 (+15.8%).
  • Special 95 — AED 4.28 instead of AED 3.69 (+16%).
  • E-Plus 91 — AED 4.21 instead of AED 3.61 (+16.6%).
  • Diesel — AED 4.80 instead of AED 4.30 (+11.6%).

Why did fuel get more expensive?

October marks the third consecutive monthly increase. The UAE has linked pump prices to international markets since 2015. As the UAE Cabinet explained when introducing the policy, the Fuel Price Committee reviews average international prices each month and includes operating costs; rates are not fixed against the price of oil on a single day. In September, Brent crude approached $110 a barrel as uncertainty over Middle East supplies and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz kept the market under pressure. These conditions help explain the direction of the increase, but the committee has not published a breakdown attributing each fils of the October rise to a specific event. A one-day Brent quote is not the formula for the price at the pump.

Are these the highest fuel prices ever in the UAE?

Not for petrol. At the July 2022 peak, Super 98 cost AED 4.63, Special 95 AED 4.52 and E-Plus 91 AED 4.44 per litre. The October 2026 rates remain 23 fils below those levels for Super 98, 24 fils below for Special 95 and 23 fils below for E-Plus 91. Diesel is different: October’s AED 4.80 is 4 fils above its July 2022 price of AED 4.76. That comparison shows a new high relative to July 2022, not proof of an all-time diesel record without checking every other month. The accurate headline is a sharp monthly jump, not a blanket record for all fuels.

How much does a 60-litre fill-up cost?

A comparison based on the same 60-litre volume shows the effect of the new per-litre rates. The exact amount depends on the grade and the number of litres purchased.

  • Super 98: AED 264 in October versus AED 228 in September — AED 36 more.
  • Special 95: AED 256.80 versus AED 221.40 — AED 35.40 more.
  • E-Plus 91: AED 252.60 versus AED 216.60 — AED 36 more.
  • Diesel: AED 288 versus AED 258 — AED 30 more.

Why queues formed at Dubai petrol stations

After the October rates were announced, queues formed at petrol stations across Dubai. Motorists headed to the pumps before the price change to fill up at September rates. The rush reflected demand ahead of the new tariffs, not a fuel shortage.

Why fuel prices change each month

The next revision will depend on international price averages in the following review period. Higher or lower crude prices tomorrow do not automatically change what drivers pay that day: the committee publishes the next month’s retail rates before they take effect. For now, October’s rates apply from 1 October across the UAE.
