Renew a Dubai driving licence at an RTA Smart Kiosk

Dubai motorists can use the RTA Smart Kiosk renewal route after completing an eye test at an RTA-approved optical centre. The kiosk accepts identity or licence details, takes payment and can issue a digital licence and printed card.

Start with the eye test

Complete the eye test at an optical centre approved by RTA. The result is uploaded to the authority’s system electronically, so check that the centre has submitted it before you begin the kiosk transaction.

Use the Smart Kiosk

At an RTA Smart Kiosk, select “Renew Driving Licence”. Authenticate with your Emirates ID or enter the requested driving-licence details. Follow the on-screen instructions and check the displayed record before payment.

Fees and outstanding fines

The published information for this route lists AED 300 for renewal for people aged 21 and above, plus a AED 20 Knowledge and Innovation Fee. The eye test is charged separately; the amount depends on the optical centre. Any outstanding fines shown in the transaction must also be settled.

Receive digital and physical documents

After successful payment, the renewed digital driving licence is made available through the RTA process. The kiosk can also print the physical card. Keep the receipt and verify the new validity details before leaving.

Confirm the current route with RTA

Kiosk availability, eligibility, fees and document options can depend on the licence record and current RTA service rules. Check the official RTA service page before travelling, especially if your licence has expired or your record needs an additional procedure.

When extra help may be useful

If the eye-test result does not appear, the identity details do not match or the kiosk redirects you to another channel, stop and use the official RTA support route rather than repeating an unsuccessful payment. We can help explain the practical sequence, while RTA handles the licence record and decision.
